At last night's HOA meeting, one of the topics of discussion was the recently determined incidents of incorrect billing by AmeriGas for deliveries made during approximately the last 6 weeks. The errors resulted in per gallon overcharges of 30 cents or more. A 200-gallon delivery would effectively be $60 higher than it should be.
While PENCO Managing Agent Debbie Marchiano indicated that AmeriGas would be correcting the errors, neither the Board nor PENCO has any means to verify if all affected accounts are actually identified and corrected. While KHF negotiates the overall group rate on behalf of residents, each resident has and is responsible for an account with AmeriGas for propane service.
Any resident who has received a propane delivery in the last 6 weeks should review their bill and verify that the per gallon price of fuel is within a few cents of $1.85. Typically, the erroneous per-gallon charge exceeded $2.10.
If you find you have been overcharged, residents have found the following Customer Service number to be an effective resource for the resolution of AmeriGas service issues.
1(800) 533-3537
If you have disposed of your bill, you can view your invoice on your account at AmeriGas.com. If you have no account, it is recommended that you create one. Your account number is the 9-digit number appearing on the left side of your bill.
An online account enables you to set up deliveries (Automatic or Will Call), view invoices, check on current prices, and pay your bill. Use of the Will Call feature to schedule a delivery instead of a phone call to AmeriGas avoids a $9.99 service charge.
As a reminder, each year, AmeriGas has been offering a quarterly rebate program that can qualify you for a $25 - $75 Visa debit card. Details and the application are available at Amerigasrebate.com
