Winter Storm Alert & Preparation - January 6th
Posted on Jan 6th, 2022
An active winter storm watch for Chester County is in effect. As per Ready Chesco Brief #3 a majority of Chester County is now expected to receive 3 -6 inches of snow. Snow is expected late this evening through Friday morning, with most of the snow falling between 1 AM and 7 AM.
TriCounty Landscape, our snow removal contractor, has been placed on alert. We will continue to monitor the storm as it evolves and provide updates to the community as additional information becomes available. If predicted accumulations prevail, snow plowing will commence once the storm has subsided.
Important Tips and Highlights for Storm Preparation:
- All KHF residents are encouraged to review, reference and abide by the KHF Snow Procedures for 2021 – 2022 located on our KHF website under “Documents”.
- Residents are encouraged to remove all seasonal ornamentation throughout the day today, Thursday, January 6th, from their walkways to the front door as well as any planters located on driveways or near the garage door area that might impede the snow crew’s ability to remove snow from these areas.
- Any special requests by medical personal or first responders or special needs should be sent to The Snow Commander at tampabear2000@yahoo.com or Debbie Marchiano, property manager (dmarchiano@pencomanagement.com) PRIOR to the storm. We will do our best to accommodate all special requests and alert the snow contractor’s crew.
- Remove your vehicles from the street and driveways PRIOR to the storm. This will permit our snow contractor to complete snow removal more efficiently. The snow contractor cannot plow a driveway where a vehicle is present and impedes snow removal.
- Cars may be parked at the clubhouse on the far-right-hand side of the parking area or on parking pads throughout the community.
- If possible, raise your garage door when the crews approach your home to plow the driveway area. Raising garage doors is a preventative action to assist the snow contractor in avoiding any damage to residents’ property.
- Following the removal of snow from driveways, the crew will circle back to apply an ice-melting agent to the walkways to our front doors and also driveways.
- If you choose to use an ice-melting agent yourself please remember to only use Calcium Chloride or Magnesium Chloride ice melt products to avoid concrete damage to sidewalks and driveways. Do Not use Rock Salt as this can damage concrete surfaces on sidewalks, and driveways.
